Sean Willy believes relationship-building is the key to success. Since first joining Des Nedhe Group as Vice President in 2016, he has helped establish strong ties between our companies and Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners. These relationships have led to numerous business development initiatives and have fuelled the rapid growth and expansion of Des Nedhe as a whole.
With more than 20 years in the resource sector, Mr. Willy is highly knowledgeable in the fields of Corporate Responsibility, Indigenous Engagement, Strategy and Development. He served as Cameco’s Director of Corporate Responsibility and is credited for helping forge partnerships with Indigenous Peoples throughout Canada, the United States and Australia. Mr. Willy is a member of the North Slave Métis Alliance and is a former Board Member and Co-Chair of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
Chief Emily Whetung grew up in Curve Lake First Nation and left long enough to pursue a higher education at Trent University and Osgoode Hall Law School. Chief of Curve Lake from 2019-2022, Chief Emily is passionate ensuring the grandchildren of her great-grandchildren have bright future. Chief Emily continues to be an active participant at Anishinabek Nation Leadership Council and sits as the vice-chair to the Indigenous Advisory Council for Small Modular (Nuclear) Reactor Action Plan.
Chief Emily was appointed to Ontario’s Electrification and Energy Transition Panel and the Canadian Electricity Advisory Council and is the Director of Indigenous Partnerships, Business Development at Ontario Power Generation. She continues to use her expertise and knowledge to ensure that that voices of Indigenous people are heard and respected.
